‘Glitched Text’는 의도된 오류로 생성된 문자 조형이다. 기존의 글자를 이미지로 변환한 후, 이를 webp 포맷으로저장하고, 파일 내부의 바이너리 데이터를 인위적으로 조작하여 오류를 유도한다. 한 글자당 3,000개에서 많게는50,000개까지의 변형된 이미지가 생성되며, 이로부터 새로운 조형 구조가 나타난다. 글자라는 체계는 안정된 상징이지만, 이 작업은 그 체계를 조작함으로써 문자의 가능성과 범주를 재고하게 만든다. 이 실험은 ‘문자란 무엇인가’라는 근본적인 질문으로 되돌아가는 과정이다.
Glitched Text is a series of letterforms created through intentional error. Original letters are turned into images, saved in the webp format, and then altered by manually manipulating their binary data. Each letter can generate from 3,000 up to 50,000 variations, revealing new visual structures. Letters are usually stable symbols, but here, that system is disrupted to reconsider their range and possibilities. This experiment ultimately circles back to a basic question: what is a letter?

1고의적으로 파괴된 글자는 그래픽일까, 아니면 여전히 글자일까? 글자가 가진 고유한 수치들을 하나씩 변형하며 의도적으로 파괴했고, 이를 다양한 글자들로 확장시켰다. 그렇게 만들어진 수백, 수천 가지의 변형 중 일부를 선택해 소개한다.

Is a deliberately broken letter still a letter, or does it become pure graphic form? By altering the inherent numeric data of each character, the letters were intentionally dismantled and then expanded into countless variations. From these hundreds and thousands of outcomes, a few were selected and presented here.
